Former First Lady Tuti Faal Jammeh was Ndeneh Faal's secret friend-Lamarana Jallow.

By Lamarana Jallow, Son of The Gambia.

Dear Editors,

First Lady Tuti Faal Jammeh, never loved Yahya Jammeh. The two couples had history of problems, during their short term marriage. For Tuti, Jammeh was a "doll boy" with little sense of humor. Jammeh has on many occasions accuses Tuti of sleeping with his body guards. Though, there was no proof to back up such claims. As a senior officer in charge of VIP Protection and other key areas at the State House, I received numerous reports from our men about Jammeh's late night quarrel with Tuti. Accusations and counter accusations of being "unfaithful" was the order of the day between the two couples.

As such, Jammeh assigns some of our men to monitor the activities of the First Lady during overseas trips. Tuti's longest serving personal body guard in the person of Pateh, was on our list of investigations. Tuti Faal was very close to Pateh. She was very comfortable with Pateh. She trusts this soldier more than Yahya Jammeh himself. We have made numerous transfer request to move Pateh to other barracks, but Tuti would override such command decisions. She would call me on my cell phone, insisting that Pateh would not move an inch. Lang Tombong Tamba even went to an extent of cursing the first lady's mother when I relayed to him what she told me on the phone. Pateh came from Sinteh Foni. He was very close to Almamo Manneh. Lang never wanted to see him at the State House.

Pateh might be wondering who is Lamarana Jallow, but I used to be your senior man. I played a role in ensuring that Pateh was allowed to stay at the State House. Tuti would invite me for private conversation eachtime oga was out of the palace. We talked a lot. Matter of fact, she told me that she was leaving well before Jammeh was put in the picture. Some of our men are still talking to Tuti. Her days at the State House was interesting. She tell off Jammeh and do whatever she wanted to do. Guards who want promotion or special treatment would rush to Madam Tuti for help. Thanks to Tuti, plans to get me arrested was reversed. Jammeh is the type who tells his woman anything he intends to do if he is in happy mood. Since I'm still in active duty, I would refrain from going into details. I wait for the day when he is handcuffed and taken to Mile two to tell my story to Gambians.

Elders and religious leaders made repeated intervention to keep Tuti at the State House, but she was wilder by the day. She walks out of the palace anytime she wants and had succeeded in making life miserable for "Oga." Lang Tombong contributed to the separation of the two couples. Lang make Oga to believe that Tuti was not a serious lady. He also accuses the lady of meddling into the army's command. Lang played crucial role into Tuti's divorce. Contrary to what was being bandit, it was Tuti who divorced Jammeh and not otherwise. Tuti has demanded divorce from Jammeh on numerous occasions. Oga even threatened to jail her at some point for the "potential" embarrassment her decision to divorce him would have caused. Tuti walked out from the State House and left for good.

I was among the officers who visited her at her Kemboujay residence, where she told us on no uncertain terms that her returning to the State House was totally out of it. We hand delivered Tuti's remaining belongings to her. We also know what led to her change of address. Jammeh assigned the NIA to closely monitor her activities. She later moved to a private house in Latri-Kunda German. Tuti revealed so many things to us about Jammeh's private life. For her, she married the wrong person. That Jammeh was not the right person. Jammeh was not her dream man. Jammeh was not the type of man she wanted.

Ndeneh Faal angered Jammeh

Going out with the President's former wife was a big achievement for any serious young man. Ndeneh was often teased by the then Tourism Minister Yankuba Touray for being "messing" with the big man's former wife. During their Weekend "MBAHAL" lunch at Touray's Kotu house, Tuti's alleged new found relationship with Ndeneh would dominate the show. One of our men posted at Touray's residence called me one afternoon narrating, what he over heard at Touray's residence. "Sir, these people are talking about the former first lady going out with Ndeneh Faal." said the guard. I remarked: What else did they talked about? The guard continued" Well, the Minister is laughing at the top of his voice. He is apparently happy.

Few days later, I met Minister Touray, Willimba, a Lebanese Gambian, Ndeneh Faal and others at a nearby Bar at SeneGambia. While at the Bar, Tuti's name was being mentioned again. I just could not believe that this was Yankuba Touray. As soon as they saw me, they changed their topic.

Yanks and Ndeneh are long time childhood friends. It was obvious that Ndeneh would confide to him in private about his top secrets. It was wrong on the side of Yanks to openly tease Ndeneh about his relationship with the first lady. If Yankuba Touray thinks that what I'm saying here is not the truth, let him counter me. My men are still here to testify against him if called in my office.

Yanks was talking to Tuti during the period in question. Yanks cannot deny that he was not aware of the relationship between Tuti and Ndeneh. Gamcel phone records can confirm my assertions. Yankuba Touray is not loyal to the system at all. He pretends as a Di heart APRC supporter but behind the scenes he would conspire against the Head of State. Lamarana Jallow works at the State House. Our men are angry at this hour. Jammeh would be greeted by rude shock soon.

Ndeneh's relationship with Tuti later reached the President. This led to her subsequent resettlement in Mauritania. She was being closely watched by the state. She returns home not long ago. Jammeh is still trying to lure her into relationship.

Victoria Goddard used to implicate Ndeneh.

Jammeh played a crucial role on Faal's jailing. He was all the time telling me that he was going to set a drastic example on Faal. Magistrate Otta received direct orders from the President. Ndeneh was convicted well before the trial proper kicks-off. Otta was promised with judge position should she helped to convict Musa Suso and Ndeneh Faal. Ndeneh's trial was due to his alleged sexual relationship with Tuti Faal. The drug case was just a tip of the iceberg. Victoria Guard was pardoned because she reached a plea bargaining with the state. Ndeneh was not at the scene of the crime but was implicated by the lady. The intelligence community believe that it was a "planted evidence" just to jail the young man. Though, Ndeneh had bad records in terms of drug related issues, but the timing of the state's purported case speaks volumes. I have to run because our men are detailed to go to Kanilai. Arbaraka Bandirabeh. Hawkundemalla, heckawaleyeh.

Breaking News:Daily Observer Editor Seedy Bojang Fired!!

Alert Gambia: Another newspaper journalist sacked
Seedy Bojang, a journalist working for the Banjul-Based pro-government newspaper “Daily Observer”, was on July 9, 2007 dismissed by the management of the newspaper.
Reasons for his dismissal are not clear, Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) sources attributed it to some changes he allegedly made to a text of a caption to an editorial recently ran by the paper.
The sources quoted Managing Director of the newspaper Dr. Saja Taal as saying he has "the right to sack" any member of his staff whenever he deems it fit.
The sources further said the Taal’s management style and personal conduct has created an atmosphere of fear and panic among the entire staff of the newspaper.
Taal is a close confidante of President Jammeh and is alleged to been masterminding the arrests and dismissals of several journalists in the country.
Bojang is the second journalist to be sacked in less than a month at “Daily Observer”. Lamin Dibba, another journalist for the newspaper, was sacked for apparently writing a story in the June 19 edition titled “13 cured HIV/AIDS patients discharged”. Sources said the company’s management was not pleased with his report, and dismissed him.

Houston Texas is the place to be on July 14TH, 2007. All roads to Houston. The Senegalese Mbalax star Pape Diouf has been billed to perform in Houston. The SeneGambian Community facilitated the show, which is geared towards promoting Community base Development projects. A percentage of the proceeds would be used to support the Houston based NGO called "United To Help USA." The said organization provides relief assistance to local communities and international organizations in dare need of help. Its website can be accessed at this link: www.unitedtohelpusa.org

The Houston show has so many things to offer. Its organizers mean business. Your satisfaction is there utmost concern. As such, they have lined up series of programs leading to the show just to entertain the audience. It's going to be a nice Weekend in Houston Texas. Be there to chill. It worth it.

A Soccer game has been scheduled on Saturday afternoon between the Gambian team of Dallas and team Senegal of Houston. Again, the organizers had emphasized that some part of the proceeds of the show would be given to United to help USA. Listeners of radio Xalima.com should also be proud. There is a raffle show to be hosted on Saturday July 7TH between the hours of 12 to 2PM Central time. Listeners, we are told have the opportunity to win a "free admission tickets" on the day in question. Give it a try and see....

Senegalese mbalax star Pape Diouf is not new to the SeneGambian Community. His Raleigh show was a success, as Ndaga fans could be seen dancing all night long. A similar trend is expected to be repeated in Houston Texas. Our "driyankas" in Houston and its surroundings should get ready. Dioufa has good stuff for you.

United Help USA should be supported by every SeneGambian son and daughter. The Organization's goal is to help humanity. It's a timely project, which should be given the necessary support it deserved. Our SeneGambian Community are being urged to attend in their large numbers.

Pape Diouf has been in the music business for sometime now. He is not only a world leading acclaimed music star, but had also releases so many albums over the years. During his days with the Lemzo Diamon, he was one of those rising stars, with his melodious voice. He later set up his own band, which is today a sub-regional and international household name. Dioufa is well respected and admired by music fans on the African continent.

As stated earlier, the Houston show is going to be a "show with a difference." It worth spending one's last saving just to attend. For real. An American popular musician has also been billed to entertain the crowd. "Long time Houston multi-instrumentalist Curtis Lejeune and his supporting family and friends display a truly original musical experience with a mix of Southern Americana and folk rock. This highly original music is full of twists and turns with lyrics that are thought provoking. Lejeune is currently recording a full length CD due for release in late 2007. This is a rare opportunity to catch one of Houston's unique emerging acts." said the Organizers of the show in a letter dispatched to this paper. A local Houton band called the"
LIQUIDIOUS" are also going to entertain the crowd. The said band is very popular. A lot of good stuff has been packaged for music lovers.

Houston is the place to be my friends. Be there or be no where. Houston is calling!! See you in Houston on July 14TH. Let us welcome Dioufa and his band. It's party time again. The gate fee is just $35 dollars. It's affordable. Hope to see you all in Houston...

Breaking News:Journalist Chief Manneh might as well be killed by the Jammeh gov't!!

Where is Journalist Chief Ebrima Manneh?
A year ago today, 11 July 2007, Chief Ebrima B. Manneh, a reporter for the "Daily Observer", Banjul-Based pro-government newspaper was arrested and detained by the Gambian National Intelligence Agency (NIA). Since then he has "disappeared" with the Gambian Security agencies and police claiming they do not know his whereabouts.
Manneh "disappeared" a week after the 11 July, 2006 African Union (AU) Heads of State summit in Banjul . Colleagues of Manneh witnessed his arrest by two plainclothes officers of the NIA at the premises of the "Daily Observer". He was suspected to have passed "damaging" information to a foreign journalist prior to the summit.
The NIA and other security agencies have consistently denied keeping him. For the first time in eight months after his arrest, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebrima Bah released a press statement saying that, "Manneh was not detained at any station". However, at the beginning of 2007, the NIA claimed to have released all detainees they claimed were in their custody, but Manneh was not one of them.
Some Gambian observers allege that the "disappearance" of Manneh could mean he has been either murdered or been so brutally tortured so much so that his captors fear releasing him would prove evidence of their brutalities.
Since the government announced an alleged coup d'etat in March 2006, a number of people, including journalists, lawyers, other civilians and soldiers have been detained without charge.
MFWA has filed suit at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Community Court in Abuja , Nigeria . against the government of President Yahya Jammeh for Chief Manneh's release at The Community Court will sit on July 16, 2007 for hearing.
Issued by the MFWA, Accra . July10, 2007.
The MFWA is a regional independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Accra . It was founded in 1997 to defend and promote the rights and freedom of the media and all forms of expression.

Dear Editor,
Allow me space to make a certain clarification on an issue that two of your contributors in the persons of Town Crier and Horomsi have cited in the recent past. I reffer to the killing of my former boss Mr Foday Makalo, alledgedly on the orders of President Yahya Jammeh. I hold no brief for Yahya for suffice it to note, that being one of the brothers of the late Almamo Manneh, I will be the last to come to the defence the African Hitler - Yahya Jammeh. However, let me come to the aid of Freedom for I love this newspaper.Pa, Foday Makalo is not dead. He is alive and kicking.

So when again someone sends a piece in which he or she alledges that Makalo is dead, please my brother, don't waste your precious space on that. I was with Foday a few days ago in Luanda and when I told him of the articles, he laughed and said, "well, you can bear witness that I have not been buried in Alhadgie Tabora Manneh's garden. What I detest, said Mr Makalo, is linking me with tampering with party funds. All party cheques were signed by me and honourable Edward Singhate. And none of us ever went to the bank. That was the responsibility of the bureau accountant Mr Ebou Secka. If it were true that I tampered with party funds, then honourable Singhate and Ebou ought to have been arrested as was to have been in my case. No my brother, the order for my arrest by the president hinges on an internal conflict within the political bureau masterminded by people who wanted Pa Modou Njie to be theAdminstrative Secretary instead of me. It is a long story but I will be getting in touch with the Freedom paper for a possible interview. You see, Yahya fell into the trap of the plotters but he certainly can't say what I did wrong for him as President to order for my arrest. My brother, the truth shall be told but if it be true that Yahya had ordered for my killing as he did for my arrest, well, I cerainly have not been killed." Mr Foday is today in Kumasi and if he has not yet spoken to you, he surely will in the very near future. Thanks.
..........................
Editors note: We hope this is not another cover up official reaction to hide the alleged murder of Foday Makalo. This is not the first time that Makalo is reported alive. The Daily Observer started the junk propaganda story to free the government from any blame. If he is alive let him speak out to allay fears entertained by Gambians. Interestingly, non of Makalo's family have confirmed having contacts with the former APRC bigwig. We need material evidence and not mere cover up statements calculated to mislead Gambians. Prove us wrong if Makalo is indeed alive. We shall be more than glad to interview him here at Freedom. The writer must be very close to the APRC because he metioned names of party officials. We thank the reader for being a Freedom Newspaper proclaimed fan. The most up to date information on Makalo's whereabouts is that he is dead. Period!!! Produce Makalo to end the sea of speculations and counter speculations...

Breaking News: Ghanaian papers quote Freedom Newspaper on the murder of their nationals by Jammeh's gov't!

Gambia: Top Police Chief Exposes Jammeh Over Murder of Ghanaians

Email This Page

Print This Page

Accra

A top Gambian police chief has released a damning report regarding the "gruesome murder" of about 50 Ghanaian Nationals in the Gambia, in the year 2005. The report published in the Freedom Newspaper, Gambia's premier online newspaper catalogued a state sponsored "genocide" against what the police chief calls "innocent Ghanaians" who were mistaken as dissident rebels poised to disrupt Jammeh's so called "military revolution."

The police chief, who self styled himself as Sekouba Jadama, in a dispatch to the Freedom Newspaper gave a vivid account about how the Ghanaians were summarily executed and later dumped by their killers mainly State Guard solders.

The police chief was part of the investigating team detailed to take the photographs of the murdered Ghanaians and also to gather evidence regarding the circumstance surrounding the incident. The police chief says Gambia's President Yahya Jammeh issued orders for the killing of the Ghanaians and had even volunteered names of security officials involved in the said massacre of Ghanaians.

The late Captain Tumbul Tamba, Major Musa Jammeh and LT.Kawsu Camara alias Bombaredeh were said to be the ring leaders behind the said mass killings of Ghanaians in the Gambia. The top police chief is calling on the international Community, including the Ghanaian Government to expedite efforts to bring Yahya Jammeh to justice.

He believes that the crime committed by Jammeh and his security forces by denying these Ghanaians the right to live is tantamount to "genocide" and crime against humanity. He says all hands should be put on deck to try Jammeh of the Gambia on genocide charges.Below is the full text of Jadama's piece.

By Sekouba Jadama from the Police Headquarters in Banjul.

Dear Editor,

First of all, I would like to thank you sincerely for giving me space in your online Newspaper. An online Newspaper, which is telling Gambians, nothing but the truth. With regards to the above subject matter, I want all readers to carefully observe whatever is being said here. I would also appeal to other online Newspapers to share this information. The debate on the above mentioned subject, has been going on for sometime now and I believe that it is time for the whole world to take note and prepare ways and means of bringing His Excellency, Dr Alhaji Yahaya to justice. Jammeh should face the International Criminal Court, the [ICC] since he spearheaded the "Ghanaian genocide" in the Gambia. The Ghanaian Government should ensure that Justice is seen to be done in this high profile crime against humanity. Sincerely, I was not present when the gruesome murder of these Ghanaians took place on that faithful night in the Gambia, but I was involved in the investigations at the preliminary stages.

Dear Gambians and friends of the Gambia, we want to make it loud and clear that members of the Gambia Police Force at the Headquarters level, were not aware of what happened on Friday the 22nd July 2005, but some senior Police Officers were in the picture the following day Saturday the 23rd July 2005. It's rather disturbing that up to today, the Gambian Police, nor the Government have not said anything about the circumstances that led to the death of these Ghanaians.

It would be recalled that Pa Jallow, the former spokesman of the Gambia Police Force, was the Commissioner for Crime Management [CMC] at the time of this incident. Before going into details, I would like to tell Gambians that July 22 ND was celebrated in the traditional way of a Guard of Honour along the Independence Drive, opposite the Supreme Court Complex in Banjul. The same night, there was a cultural jamboree at the July 22 square, attended by the Government, Cabinet Ministers, the civil society and people from all walks of life. His Excellency was in attendance.

While at the occasion, a telephone call suddenly came from the NIA Officer posted at Barra that some West African Nationals have been arrested and their motives were to destabilize the celebrations of the July 22. Ousman Sonko was present as the Inspector General of Police, Daba Marena as DG NIA and Ndure Cham as Chief of Staff. The Deputy Inspector General of Police then was Abu Njie, who is a native of Nuimi. Instructions were passed immediately for their detention and Abu Njie used his cellular phone to contact a mini van known as "Gelegele" owner to be on standby to transport the arrested West African Nationals.

The Banjul/Barra ferry has already closed at the material time. Instructions were given to the Managing Director of the Ports Mr.Gibba to dispatch the ferry without further delay to Barra. Guest what happened? His Excellency was advised to return to the State House immediately and walahi,(swearing) he ran hurriedly and was saying "deal with them, deal with them" as he was trembling while going home. If this is a lie, I pray to God that let me be involved in a deadly car crash on my way home. I was there present! The ferry and the navy boat went to barra and collected these innocent people under armed escort provided by the State Guard and the Police Intervention Unit personnel. They were first taken to the Naval Headquarters, just next by the Ports, later to the Police Intervention base in Kanifing and some at the seized Baba Jobe residence at Kotu. The arrested Ghanaian Nationals were later taken away by the late Captain Tumbul Tamba, Musa Jammeh, the famous "Bombarde" Kawsu Camara, some officers and NIA Intelligence officers. There were no Police Officers present, except our IGP Ousman Sonko. He was there. The news broke the following day Saturday the 23rd, that some people were found dead in Brufut. Pa Jallow called his senior and junior staff to converge at the scene. Jallow will not deny this.

Our investigating team then went to Brufut and discovered that the bodies were scattered all over the bushes with deep cuts from heads to eyes and broken noses. Only eight bodies were found at Brufut and rest could not be seen, but reliable information received indicates that the rest of the dead were dumped around Batokunku. Infact, those bodies found at Brufut were to be taken to Batokunku, but because it was coming to daybreak, the killers decided to dump them there. The CMC and his team were picking bits and pieces until all the bodies were photographed and loaded into an open pickup and in the Brufut Ambulance and destined for Banjul. Apart from Sonko and Jallow whom, I admired for his professionalism, there was no one from from the ARMY or the NIA.

The news of the brutal murder was not covered by the National Radio and Television at all, whilst the following day, a story on Darfur was on the News and that was exactly on the 24th Sunday. On Monday the 25th July, the CMC called us again and gave us specific instructions to work on and report to him for onward transmission to the Inspector General of Police Ousman Sonko. We all agreed to meet the CMC in three hours, the same day. I'm sure Pa Jallow will not deny this, because he is a professional and also a good officer, who knows where to hit if its comes to investigations. This is a guy who was trained by Pa Wally Njie,Pa Mbaye,Foday Barry and one of the few Police Officers, who received professional Police training. He can fit in any department of the Police.

When Jallow was the Spokesman of the Police, we saw the difference in terms of media relation, as he had handled the press very well and am sure you will agree! He resigned from that post based on his professionalism and principles. Jallow was immediately removed from the office of CMC on that Monday, as he awaits for reports from us. This was unbelievable! When he told us of his immediate transfer, all the staff of the Crime Management were dumb founded because the officer was doing a good job. He was asked to report to the Traffic Division as Commissioner, which he accepted in good faith and did a wonderful job there as well. All the media Houses in the Gambia can confirm this including the GRTS on his Sunday Talk shows and Weekend News upbeat show with Malick Jones on Saturdays.

I'm mentioning this because he was victimized for knowing those responsible and I hope My friend and colleague will not take offense for me mentioning his name. He is actually on an assignment and he will be wondering who Jadama is. So, the gist of the matter is that, His Excellency should be indicted without further dalays. He cannot certainly get away with serious crimes against humanity without being punished by a court of law. He is the one who gave the instructions for the Ghanaians to be killed. I will give evidence when the time comes.

Further more, on the famous Jesus, who is not holly Enssa Badjie, was suddenly made the Gambia's CMC.This was another joke because no one ever thought such a thing will happened in the Police Force. Jesus is the criminal the Gambia have ever seen. He has no training, no professional back ground. He will connived with criminals in the Greater Banjul Area and this was confirmed when Jesus himself appeared on TV on an interactive program, when a lady phoned condemning Jesus for appearing on TV, because the said lady knew him very well. Jesus will liaised with Nigerians and money doublers. Jesus will work with cattle rustlers particularly when he was in Brikama Division as a junior officer.

All these, is possible, because he is a Jola from Sibanor and shared the same parents with Ousman Badjie former ADC to the President. Jesus has no discipline towards his superiors and as such, he is good at using his mobile phone pretending to be talking to State House, just to intimidate his colleagues. His elevation is unacceptable and not justified at all. He should be demoted to his former rank of ASP as soon as possible to avoid indiscipline in the Police. It's just like an orderly giving instructions to his boss. This can only be found in the Gambia Police Force and it should be stopped without further delays.

The same thing happened some few years ago, when Jai Sowe was taken from no where and appointed as DIG above his superiors. At the end of the day, Jai would not pull with his boss, because he thought that he was above the moon. Jai is from Foni and that was the reason for his appointment, but as time goes on, the State House knew that he was not the right person. The stories sent by your able Banjul staffers on Sonko and Tamba's roles in the March coup is nothing but the truth and I will not dwell on that. Sekouba Jadama from the Police Headquarters in Banjul.

Breaking News:Freedom Newspaper Management wishes good luck to Associate Editor Jawara!

Hi Mr.Jawara,

Good luck. It was nice to have you onboard. The Freedom Newspaper never hired you as an Editor, as a point of clarification. The term associate editor is an honorary title given to young promising writers like you. Associate Editors never edit our stories, as you can attest to this fact. Throughout, your association with Freedom, you never edited a single piece. You reserve the right to leave anytime you deem it necessary.

We can vividly remember when you emailed the Freedom Newspaper about a year ago, requesting to be filing sport stores for us. You also asked our Managing Editor to help you with a supporting letter for your supposedly intended asylum application here in the US. Editor M'Bai respectfully declined your request since you never worked for his paper. M'Bai also told you that he cannot write such letters without the approval of the paper's editorial board. He finally declined your request for good reasons. He advised you to liaise with other sources in the Gambia to realize your dream. We are stating these facts for the records because we do not want anyone to black mail us. The Freedom Newspaper has never deviated from its editorial policy. Our editorial policy remains in tack and nothing can shake us. You either subscribe to it or don't associate yourself with us. People come and go, but the Freedom Newspaper remains.

Coming back to your asylum case, we are compelled to cite it as a reference to defuse any form of black mail coming from any quarters. Off late people are claiming to be full time editors of Freedom, when they are not. There are material evidence available regarding your letter soliciting for support. We are aware of the fact that some people join this paper for their own selfish interest, but the Editorial board of this leading paper would always shatter the hopes of such individuals, because no one can use us for his personal gains.

We are not implying that you joined the Freedom Newspaper for such reasons, but the truth be told there is a double standards in your so called letter of resignation. Don't hide in the name of associate editor to smear our hard earned image. An editor is expected to have editorial right, which was never given to you in the first place. Your never determines what goes into this paper, no are you privy of its daily content. You are also not in the position to identify our Banjul Correspondents. An editor should should be in the position to know staffers of Freedom, but in your case there is nothing like that. As far as we are concerned, you a regular opinion writer, just like any other private contributor.

Admitted, we made the mistake by creating such a conflict of interest by honouring you with associate Editor title without clearly defining your role. Your case reminds us about dictator Yahya Jammeh, who was honoured as a Doctor, when in actual fact, he is not a doctor by profession. We regret any discomfort this might have caused to you, but the time has come for us to set the records straight. This paper is not disowning you in anyway, but we are morally required to tell Gambians and friends of the Gambia about who is who at Freedom. Please accept our observations in good faith.

On behalf of the Freedom Newspaper Management, I wish you good luck in your future endeavors. Have a great day......

Signed........

Resignation
Dear Brother,
It is with deep regret that i want to tender my resignation from the editorial team of the Freedom Newspaper. All through the time i have been writing, i have learned immensely about events in the Gambia and to an extent, Africa as a whole. I must also acknowledge my utmost respect for you, for listeing to me on issues that we have seen differently. A prime example is when we had a lengthy discussion about whether to publish the name of the police officer who was deported from Eqypt as an HIV positive patient. I was impressed by your willingness to listen to my perspective on that issue and many others that i cannot mention.
That said, my observations of the stories Freedom Newspaper carries on daily basis have made me conclude that the direction the paper is taking is not what i thought it would when i agreed to be part of the team. Therefore, remaining part of the team would only make me torture my conscience, which i strongly beleive is unnecessary under the circumstances.
Henceforth, i would still contribute when the need arise as a contributor and not as an Associate Editor.
I wish you and the rest of the management team the best of luck in your endeavors, and hope that we all work to make The Gambia the place we can call home.
While i anticipate your timely response, i remain.

Breaking News:Police Refuse to Prosecute Army Officer Following an Assault Case

By Wise Man in Banjul

Lamin Sanneh a National Guard officer attached to the Special Forces of the Gambia Army was yesterday arrested by the Brikama Police but soon allowed to walk a freeman following the assault of one Ebrima Mendy, an owner of local pub at Brikama Jamisa for ‘not serving him free Alcohol’.
The officer allegedly in the habit of drinking free alcohol in the pub got angry when the pub owner refused to serve him free of charge. The place called Jalanba is a famous `ghetto` in Brikama where prostitute and alcoholic often disturbed responsible drinkers.
According to one of the customers of the pub, the military officer usually enter the pub sometime in his full military uniform during off duty drinking with prostitutes and threatens anyone who dares to ask for the payment of his bills.
